How Covid19 has already impacted the Data Science JOB Market
In the USA around 10 million jobs have been lost since the last few weeks due to this coronavirus(covid19) pandemic. A handful percentage of jobs exist that are related to data science, machine learning, and deep learning across the globe. However, surveys indicate that data science has yet to see far-flung layoffs at this current time; particularly among big organizations, it has not spread that much. However, the workers within the startup level companies are more prone to layoffs at this covid19 time.
Based on a recent survey around 29.1% companies are doing the good without any adverse loss in workload level, 57% of the 300 survey answerers indicated no change to their staffing and hiring plans, and another 22% have frozen their hiring or are preparing for layoffs, but have taken no actions until now. Around 5.4% of companies have cut their employee's salaries, have frozen hiring new employees; whereas approximately 16.9 % have carried out few measures towards the COVID-19 response. However, it has been projected that more layoffs are in the plan in the coming days.
However, the Burtchworks has predicted in the report that as the crisis is in its early days and it is difficult to predict where this situation will lead. Besides, they also mentioned in that survey that analytics organizations have not been heavily impacted. In conclusion, we can assume that the impacts of covid19 will grow and become huge and further widespread in the coming weeks, months, and years may occur.
The impact of covid19 is far-reaching not only in the USA but it has created a lot of economical loss, taken away lives of medical practitioners, and common people in Europe, Asia, Australia, China, India, and in more than 180 countries across the globe.
This is such a disaster, we pray to God that things will be on track at the earliest!
