Indian workforce shows the best digital skills in the world : Gartner Survey

Gartner Inc. a global research and advisory firm have conducted one survey that revealed interesting information on Indian Digital Workers. The survey reveals that 67% of digital proletarians in India informed that emerging technologies such as machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) are heightening their efficacy at work. The Gartner 2019 Digital Workplace Survey found that India is the most digitally dexterous country in the world. After India, the UK and the USA have the largest Gen Z workforce which adds to the extraordinary digital capability. This survey also has mentioned that the youth in India, UK, and the USA like to learn new skills using digital technologies, especially in the workplace. The surprising fact also is that 27% of the digital workers in India are highly experts in digital engineering in their respective workplaces and firms.

"70% of employees in India informed in that survey, that espousal of new digital technologies will build new chances in their careers. Rashmi Choudhary, the principal research analyst at Gartner mentioned that techies in India highly believe that adopting new digital technology is far better than skilled and semi-skilled manual ways of doing stuff"
Youths like to deal with realtime tools in India. Like in India, workers in Singapore also use digital tools such as real-time messaging and social media like Facebook, Twitter, and other online software more frequently than countries like China, France, Germany, the USA, and the UK.
                                                           
Ms. Choudhury also has mentioned that by using platforms like crowdsourcing and cross-pollination, the collaboration among employees becomes more efficient when they incorporate digital tools. In fact, 45% of Indians think that digital monitoring on work shall be more effective and they don’t bother about being monitored. They also believe that this digital monitoring shall bring more efficiency and transparency to the companies as well.

"Digital workers in India believe that an intelligent workplace contributes to increased focus on more meaningful, business-critical work. At the same time, they expect that their organization is mitigating the risk it entails by being monitored" she said.


Another interesting point is that digital workers also fond of undertaking on-the-job (OTJ) and just-in-time (JIT) training to enhance their digital skills at work.


Out of the total digital workforce in India, 39% willingly want to be trained OJT to keep their knowledge up to date on the subject like AI, ML, and IoT.
